If it's spring, it's detox

Spring is a symbol of renewal and new life, the central day of which is the spring equinox, so this is the ideal time for us to release the excess and harmful substances and energies that have accumulated in the past.

Wherever we live, even if we are conscious and use clean cosmetics, we are exposed to 'modern' civilisation and from the air, water, food we get pollutants and toxins that build up over the years and it is only a matter of time before they reach toxic levels. The liver is at the heart of detoxification and is our body's main chemist, performing hundreds of functions, breaking down harmful substances by burning them, oxidising them or converting them into water-soluble compounds for the kidneys to excrete. Today's physical environment is very hostile to our liver, so it is worth supporting its work: it neutralises most toxins with sulphates, so regular consumption of bitter or ginger waters can be beneficial, and once a year a liver cleanse is a good idea.

Detox simply and effectively

  • The recommended daily fluid intake is 1.5-2 litres, gradually increasing to 2.5-3 litresas spring approaches.
  • Avoid stressful foods. Enzyme-rich diets and foods that nourish the gut flora are beneficial: organic yoghurt, chemical-free fruit, vegetables, sprouts, green plant shoots and fermented foods.
  • Drink green tea instead of coffee, and start the morning with a blood purifying tea: blood purifying herbs should only be consumed as a course of treatment, during the "cleanse", when one or two cups a day are recommended.

TIP: Prepare a home-made cleansing tea blend: boil 1 tablespoon of an equal mixture of nettle, goldenseal, wild raspberry leaf and elderflower in 2-3 dl of water. Drink every morning for four to six weeks.

We can also include our skin in the detoxification process.

Go to the sauna 1-2 times a week, and if you can, choose a place with not only a shower but also a cold plunge pool, because not only does sweating remove toxins through the skin, but the capillaries that dilate in the heat suddenly contract in the cold pool, pumping deposits into the bloodstream to be removed through the kidneys.

Detoxification is greatly helped by introducing regular daily exerciseduring the course of the cure. Simple things can make a difference, such as gardening, taking a brisk walk for half an hour a day, cycling or jogging.

Let's renew with nature!
